Damien Dattler

Damien Dattler (born July 10th 1993) has started to learn chemistry as part of a DUT in Chemistry in Illkirch, which he received in 2013. He then carried on his university course by a Chemistry Licence at University of Strasbourg, obtained in 2014, and then by the Master of Molecular and Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg, which he acquired in 2016.

During his Master degree, he had the occasion to work on several projects. In 2015, he joined the team of Pr. Ward at Basel University to work on the elaboration of a new hybrid catalytic system: artificial metallo-enzymes. He worked mainly on the synthesis and the incorporation of catalysts into the streptavidin inorder to perfom selective hydrogenation reactions of non-activated alkanes. In 2016, he had the opportunity to join the SAMS team of Pr. Guiseppone at the Institut Charles Sadron. During this training period, he synthesized gram-scale quantities of rotary molecular motors for the formation of contractile hydrogels in order to extend a molecular movement to a macroscopic movement.

Since October 2016, Damien started his PhD under the direction of Pr. Giuseppone where he is currently studying on materials incorporating non-equilibrium molecular motors.
