PhD Student

Thiebault ChavezThiebault Chavez started his chemistry studies in 2011 at Clermont-Ferrand's Superior National School of Chemistry, France. He then pursued his studies Strasbourg’s European Engineering School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials Science in 2013 during which he had the opportunity to work on the synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethanes from biobased polyols at Soprema’s R&D lab. He then joined Dr. Sabyasachi Gaan’s team at Empa (St. Gallen, Switzerland) in 2017 to work on an industrial project with Clariant aiming at developing a new family of phosphorus-based, non-halogenated flame retardant additives. In 2019, he moved to Belgium to work at Certech on a European-funded INTERREG project to recycle non-recovered plastics waste streams into materials for additive manufacturing. Since February 2020, he has been working at Institut Charles Sadron (Strasbourg, France) in Pr. Nicolas Giuseppone’s team on the « Dynamics » project funded by SATT Conectus Alsace. This project’s goal is to develop a recently patented technology allowing polyurethane materials to be self-repairing and recyclable.
