Dr. Rémi Plamont
Chargé de recherche CNRS (Assistant Professor)
Rémi obtained his BSc and MSc at the University of Burgundy. During his PhD (2015), under the supervision of Professor Silviu Balaban at Aix-Marseille University, he investigated new synthesis methodologies for polyazamacrocycles and their self-assembly. He subsequently held a teaching and research position (ATER) at École Centrale Marseille under the supervision of Hervé Clavier, where he worked on the diastereoselective catalysis of hydroalkoxylation and hydroarylation of ynamides. After his first postdoc at Sorbonne University, where he developed organic-inorganic hybrid materials for Mg2+ batteries, he joined Professor Nathalie Katsonis’s group in Enschede (NL) and Groningen (NL). In this group, he worked on switchable supramolecular materials and out-of-equilibrium heterogeneous systems using molecular machines. In 2021, he joined Professor Olli Ikkala’s group at Aalto University in Finland to study the non-linear photo-induced self-assembly of nanoparticles and the Marangoni propulsion of microdroplets directed by electric fields. Since February 2023, Rémi Plamont has been a Research Scientist (Chargé de Recherche) in the SAMS team at ICS. His research focuses on amplifying the mechanical work of photo-activatable molecular machines at the nano, micro, and macroscopic scales.
